Ex-Scuderia Ferrari Alfa Romeo 8C 2300 Corsa Corto Spider Announced for Private Sale, Upcoming Display at 2024 Mille Miglia

Gooding & Company will display the private treaty 1932 Alfa Romeo 8C 2300 Corsa Corto Spider with period competition history at the start of the highly anticipated 2024 1000 Miglia in Brescia this weekend.

 

Brescia, Italy (9 June 2024) — International collector car auction house and private brokerage firm Gooding & Company is pleased to offer a 1932 Alfa Romeo 8C 2300 Corsa Corto Spider, a Scuderia Ferrari team car with period competition history, including the Mille Miglia and the 24 Hours of Spa. The 8C, available for sale via private treaty, will be on display at the company’s stand at the start of the annual 1000 Miglia in Brescia, Italy this weekend. Gooding & Company is proud to continue to serve as an official partner of the 1000 Miglia, working together to identify and certify eligible auction consignments for entry in upcoming 1000 Miglia events.

1932 Alfa Romeo 8C 2300 Corsa Corto Spider (Asking Price Available Upon Request) Gooding & Company is offering this historic 1932 Alfa Romeo 8C 2300 Corsa Corto Spider, chassis 2111027, for private sale. One of the most significant prewar sports racing cars with a compelling period competition history, this 8C 2300 Spider was campaigned by Scuderia Ferrari for the 1932 and 1933 racing seasons at important events including the 24 Hours of Spa and the Mille Miglia. 2111027 secured Second Place at the 1932 24 Hours of Spa with Piero Taruffi and Guido d’Ippolito at the wheel, and after participating in the 1932 Mille Miglia, took 5th place overall at the 1933 Mille Miglia driven by Guido d’Ippolito and Luigi Scarfiotti.

Following its successful racing career with Scuderia Ferrari, the Corsa Corto Spider remained in Italy before being exported to the UK in the late 1930s. Today, 2111027 is being offered from a prominent European private collector, having been carefully maintained throughout the last few decades. The 8C currently presents in its 1932 24 Hours of Spa livery, with coachwork in the style of Zagato, and retains its matching-numbers engine. An incredibly important and exciting prewar sports car, 2111027 was featured in marque authority Simon Moore’s definitive books, The Legendary 2.3 and The 8C Story Continues, and presents its next custodian with the opportunity for entry in the world’s foremost events, races, and rallies.
