Myclassic news would like to congratulate Ford and Argo AI on their new partnership. Ford’s announced last week their new partnership with a company called Argo AI, that was formed by Brian Selesky of Google and Peter Randor of Uber. Argo AI is a newly formed Artificial Intelligence Company. Ford has committed to a 1 billion investment over the next 5 years into Argo AI and Ford will have a controlling interest in the company.

This partnership will combine Ford’s autonomous vehicle coming in 2021 and Argo AI’s virtual driving system.

Ford President and CEO Mark Fields recently said “The next decade will be defined by the automation of the automobile, and autonomous vehicles will have as significant an impact on society as Ford’s moving assembly line did 100 years ago,”

Myclassic News feels that this is a powerful statement and we as the consumer may not be paying attention to how fast this can happen. Just like some of us who were skeptical with the first home computers asking ourselves “what is a computer ever going to do for me”? and now we can’t live without them. In our classic car industry, we’ll never give up the passion of sitting in our favorite classic and man-handling it down the road, but as metropolitan areas become more densely populated and automation evolves we can’t ignore technology and autonomous vehicle technology is definitely here.

At a recent press conference Brian Selesky said that they are definitely beyond the research phase and there is lots of engineering to do, but they feel they have the technology to make this 5-year plan materialize. Stay tuned to MyclassicNews as the car industry evolves.
