The Techno Classic 2018

Reporting from Stuttgart. Porsche Classic will be appearing at the Techno Classica 2018 show with a new stand concept, numerous product highlights and extraordinary vehicles. Over more than 1,500 square metres in hall 7.0, where the Group will be situated, the brand will be celebrating two anniversaries simultaneously: 70 years of the Porsche sports car and 30 years of the Porsche 911 and Type 964. Traditionally, the brand’s offering focuses on original parts, new service offers and restorations. Using a fully restored Porsche 959 as an example, alongside the body shell of a Porsche 356, visitors can see the quality of a Porsche Classic factory restoration for themselves. In addition, 13 Porsche Classic partners from seven European countries will be exhibiting vehicles for sale and offering information about their range of services. The Techno Classica show in Essen, Germany is one of the most important international trade fairs for vintage cars and modern classics. From March 21–25, around 200,000 visitors from across the world are expected to attend. On Friday, March 23, 2018, there will be an autograph session with Magnus Walker at the Porsche Classic stand.

Sports car development milestones from the Porsche Museum
The Porsche Museum will use the drivetrain from the 964-generation 911 to relive one of the most important development steps in the history of the 911. The 911 Carrera 4, which made its debut 30 years ago, has now been extensively reworked with 85 per cent new parts and equipped for the first time with all-wheel drive. Back in 1988, the newly designed 3.6-litre engine was the most powerful naturally aspirated engine in the history of the 911 production vehicles, and was the first passenger car engine in the world to have a controlled metal catalyst. The suspension, with its light-alloy wishbones and coil springs instead of torsion bars, was also a new addition. With a fully panelled underbody and an automatically extending rear spoiler, the new 911 achieved record aerodynamic values. Three other exhibits from the Porsche Museum collection will be present, representing 70 years of sports car history which began in 1948 with the 356/1.

Internet-based “Porsche Classic Parts Explorer” is launched
Porsche Classic supplies more than 52,000 immediately available parts to classic car enthusiasts across the world. To make searching as easy as possible, the Porsche Classic Parts Explorer is now available online. This new service will be presented live at the Techno Classica. With just a few clicks, you can find original parts and accessories for your classic car of choice. At www.porsche.de/classic-explorer you can find information about the approximately 300 parts which are reissued each year, and many other product highlights. Around 200 parts from the Porsche Classic range will be exhibited at the Techno Classica.

“Porsche Classic Vehicle Tracking System” to tackle theft
Porsche Classic will also be presenting the new Vehicle Tracking System (VTS), which offers a comprehensive means of protecting your vehicle against theft using an app. The key feature of the VTS is an autonomous sensor package that is integrated at concealed points on the vehicle. This unit communicates with a Europe-wide security network, enabling comprehensive online monitoring via smartphone. The tailored versions of the new system are suitable for all Porsche classic vehicles from the 356 to the Carrera GT and are now available at all Porsche Classic Partners and Porsche Centres across Europe.
