W.O. Bentley was born in 1888. He was fascinated with engineering and considered cars of the late 19th and 20th century as dangerous, unsophisticated and noisy. He made it a goal to build cars that would meet his own extraordinary high expectations as a driver, engineer and as a gentleman.

It was October 1919 when Bentley Motors was established and it was a couple of years later in 1921 when the first Bentley was delivered. This first Bentley carried their hallmark radiator casing and flying “B” insignia.

Bentley has established itself as one of the most luxurious car companies in the world. They have been owned by Volkswagen since 1998 and are headquartered in Crewe, England.

THE FUTURE OF BENTLEY

The future of Bentley is here. In America, we look to Cadillacs, Packards, Rolls Royces and Bentleys as some of the most desirable collectible luxurious classic cars of the past, but at times we miss out on what is happening across the pond.

On display at the Geneva Motor Show this month was the Bentley EXP12 Speed 6e Concept.

Wolfgang Durheimer, chairman and chief executive of Bentley Motors said: “The EXP 12 Speed 6e is a concept to show that Bentley is defining electric motoring in the luxury sector, with the appropriate technology, high quality materials and refinement levels you’d expect from a true Bentley. This concept enables us to engage with luxury customers and gather feedback on our approach. Bentley is committed to offering an electric model in its future portfolio and we are interested to receive feedback on this concept,” Durheimer concluded.

When asked, Rick Duncan, President of MyclassicNEWs.com said “As we witness the automotive industry evolve into more electric vehicles, one can’t help but notice that the manufacturer’s original characteristics fade away, but Bentley has appeared to maintain the characteristic DNA that has been Bentley for 100 years in their new concept EXP12.”

With such characteristics as a luxurious interior and a geometrical exterior design that wreaks Bentley, this concept car is definitely one that has maintained the integrity of the manufacturer, while adapting into the future evolution of automotive technology.

This Bentley EXP12 Speed 6e Concept is truly what MyclassicNEWS calls the “Essence of Classic Cars”
