At myclassicNEWS we’re all about “the essence of classic cars” and nothing represents that essence like Ferrari.
To coincide with the official start of the celebrations and to commemorate the events of 70 years ago Ferrari has released a reenactment of the first 12 cyclinder 125 S driving through the Factory gates and in doing so passing the torch of the Ferrari legacy to the future.
It was 70 years ago this month that Enzo Ferrari took this premier machine for a test drive out the gates. The 125 S was the first car to sport the Ferrari badge. On March 12, 1947 this beautiful Ferrari came to life for the first time and the iconic adventure began. On May 11, 1947 the car made its track debut, but the 125 S had to withdraw, after leading the race, with a fuel pump issue. Enzo Ferrari called it a “Promising Failure”. The failure was short lived because 9 days later the car won at the Rome Grand Prix, which was a 40 lap, 87 mile race. The little 125 S averaged 55 mph. This was the first of 6 victories to come.
For the entire year of 2017 celebrations will take place worldwide introducing pivotal moments about the Ferrari brand. Ferrari has launched www.ferrari70.com for the public to view these historic events.
70 years of automotive precision enters the same gate as Enzo Ferrari did in March of 1947. Myclassic News looks forward to the next 70. What will be exiting this gate in the year 2087…70 years from now?
