This is what it’s all about. There are many unique classic car stories, but, at times, there is that one that touches us deeply. Chris Martini was just a little boy in 1982 when his Father bought his new Collector Edition Corvette. Chris remembers his dad washing his Vette every week even if it had been in the garage all week. Pictured above is Chris around the age of 7 washing his pedal Corvette right alongside his Dad. In 1997 Chris’ Dad reluctantly sold his beloved Corvette. This was a decision he would regret the rest of his life.
Around a year later, at the age of 16, Chris had an accident that effected his spinal cord leaving hm in a wheelchair to this day. The family always wondered what had happened to the Vette. Unfortunately, Chris’ Father died after battling cancer in 2011. Chris would often have dreams of his dad with the car. He thought if I find the car, but cannot get it back, maybe I can get the original console nameplate back that indicated his dad as the original owner. Chris diligently searched for the car, but hit roadblocks at every turn, until one day, on the way to work, he called into a radio show he was listening to that had an attorney taking questions. The attorney directed Chris to his PI and an hour later he had the owner’s name, phone number and address. Chris contacted the owner in Massachusetts and convinced the owner to sell it back to him. After rearranging their anniversary plans, Chris and his wife bought one way tickets from Florida to Massachusetts. They immediately had hand controls installed so Chris could drive the Vette named Abby. Abby is now safe at home in Florida.
