When we think of Bentley, prestige and luxury come to mind, but Bentley also stands for endurance. Bentley is traveling over 10000 miles from there Crewe headquarters just south of Liverpool, England to Australia to take its first racing challenge of the the season – The Bathurst 12 Hours, where the team is seeking a win on the world famous Mount Panorama circuit.
A pair of Bentley GT3’s have entered the race where more than 50 cars from the worlds leading manufacturers compete on twisted mountain roads.
Driver’s Guy Smith and Steven Kane are returning for their third consecutive year attempting to beat their 3rd place finish is 2016 and driver Oliver Jarvis will compete for Britain at Bathurst for the first time. Andy Soucek and Maxime Soulet, who lead last year’s race at the three-hour mark, are also returning to the mountain together, this time bearing the #8. They will be joined by Vincent Abril, who also makes his debut on the 6.2km-long Australian track.
“Bathurst 12 Hours is a fantastic way to start our season each year,” commented Bentley’s Director of Motorsport Brian Gush.“Our competition is strong but that’s why it’s important to go there and beat them. We go into 2017 in the best shape yet and with two very strong driver line-ups. Starting the season with a win would put us in a very positive mind-set ahead of racing in Europe this summer.”
