Congratulations to Mike Robinson for winning the Myklassic November Car of The Month. The restoration on this beautiful 29 Buick was mostly done in Whitewater Wisconsin by Tony Built at his restoration shop, Schoolhouse Restorations. It was a body off frame up restoration. Tony is a 1929 Buick expert and has been doing this for 47 years. The radiator was split in half and the original honeycomb radiator front was put on for looks with the modern-day radiator behind it. They replaced the gears in the rear end with 1929 Buick roadster gears which were higher ratio so the car could cruise at today’s Road speeds without taxing the engine. Other than that the car is 100% original. All the pot metal in the car was replaced with cased and polished stainless steel and that was all made in Australia. The cars first owner bought it just two or three months before the great depression in 1929 and garaged the car for about 25 years. The next owner who bought the car used it several times for weddings and special family events and then garaged the car for another 40 years. Mike bought the car from him, therefore he is the third owner. It is believed that there are only three known seven passenger 1929 Buick’s in the United States. All the interior wood in the car was solid and all the trim pieces were Walnut and they were all refinished. No wood had to be replaced.
